BIG UPS FEAR

Brooklyn punks Big Ups have been pedalling their distinctive brand of angular punk meets biting post-hardcore for a number of years now. Their newest offering, and the second taste from their new album Two Parts Together, sees the band refining their sound and coming into their own. 'Fear' harnesses the raw energy of their early works in a more polished setting. Razor-sharp stop-start instrumentation locks in perfectly with front man Joe Galarraga's expressive vocal snarl as he spits, "And you fear, what you know, and you fear what you don't know." Discussing the track Galarraga explained, "'Fear' talks about the unknown and turns it into anxiety – dealing with uncertainties before going to sleep and the difficulty of navigating a new day when confronted with the harshness of reality." The accompanying video is also worth a watch, consisting of YouTube clips of the band's intense live shows dating all the way back to 2010. Two Parts Together comes out on the 18th of May via Exploding In Sound. -Holly Mullineaux
